The Hermitcraft Wiki has come a long way since DarrenPaul left and Electos joined the wiki. Before, it was a dead wiki with very little standardization. Now, with the help of Electos and the return of DarrenPaul, the wiki is blossoming with around 200 active users, 1,000 pages, and 600,000 views this month. However, to keep up with all this growth, we needed new staff. If you want to apply for staff member, fill out this Google Form, and you will be accepted if you prove yourself on the form. Prolifix1 was accepted after his amazing application, and he has just been promoted to rollback. If he proves himself, he will be promoted to content, discussions, and chat moderator, and then administrator.
Dynamic Page List[]
With the help of our wiki manager: Moviesign, Dynamic Page List has been enabled on this wiki. DPL is a powerful wiki tool that enables lists to be automatically updated.
In its most basic form, DPL displays a list of pages in one or more categories. Selections may also be based on factors such as author, namespace, date, name pattern, usage of templates or references to other articles. Output takes a variety of forms, some of which incorporate elements of selected articles. (source: DPL Wikimedia)
So far, DPL has been enabled on 2 Templates: some navboxes and the new template: {{EpisodesList}}.

Using code and wiki templates, we are trying to make the wiki more automatic so contributors can spend more time on providing quality content rather than updating links, tables, and adding the content twice. Some navboxes (like {{Template:Nav/Former}}) now update themselves. For example, if one places Nav/Season7Shops on a page, that same page is automatically added to the template list, removing the burden of updating nav boxes each time there is a new shop. However, some templates cannot be automated because automation would mess up the titling of the pages.
Episodes List[]
The Episode List is a template that displays a table listing the specified videos. As soon as a new episode article is created, it will automatically be added to the appropriate list. This saves our editors a huge amount of effort.
Homepage Design[]
In the middle of May, the homepage got a much-needed plastic surgery, making it more welcoming and inviting for people to explore the wiki. A list of Hermits with their Minecraft skins and links to their articles, the YouTube wiki list, history section, recent changes section, and discussions section were added.
The Way Forward[]
In the future, we are aiming to continue to improve the templates and code of this wiki. We are also planning to add more templates and features. If this wiki were complete, it would easily have more than 10,000 pages worth of content from 8 years of Hermitcraft history. Prolifix1, our newest staff member, has been doing a great job adding XisumaVoid’s earliest episodes. We encourage all 200 of you to do the good work he is doing to bring us one step closer to our goal of covering everything Hermitcraft related.
