Tag was a game started by Grian during Season 6 Episode 3. It quickly gained popularity among both the fans and the Hermits themselves. A new iteration of this minigame has been made and played by the hermits every season. In early Season 7, Grian created a new version of Tag which he named Tag 2: Electric Boogaloo. In Season 8, Grian began the third iteration of Tag, known as Tegg. In Season 9, Grian started the fourth iteration of Tag while in the Empires SMP. He named the game multi-tag. Season 10 saw the introduction of the fifth iteration of Tag.

Instructions[]

The basic concept was that a renamed Name Tag item was to be dropped into the victim's inventory without them noticing. Later on, the game was expanded in different ways: a Tag Headquarters tower was built by Xisumavoid and it contained challenges for the people that got tagged, as well as a hall of fame; the tagged person also had to wear a Villager head and some blue-coloured trousers in order to be easily recognized.'

Tagging Hermit Tagged Hermit Videos Recap
Grian
Docm77
Grian made up the game and went to MumboJumbo's base to tag him. Realising that he was AFK, he turned back as it would be no fun. Later, however, after helping Docm77 reach MumboJumbo's base (and waiting for a long time), he tagged Docm77 and ran away.
Docm77
MumboJumbo
Docm77's subscribers decided that MumboJumbo must be one to be tagged because he was Grian's original target. When MumboJumbo logs out for a quick break and logs back in the shopping district, Docm77 runs into him and tags him while he's still disoriented.
MumboJumbo
Grian
MumboJumbo, tired of Grian repeatedly coming into his underground bunker and spawning chickens everywhere, sets up a Redstone system to punch him and deliver the tag directly into his inventory. This was the first case where an automaton was set up to perform a tag while the 'tagger' was AFK, and also the first time the tag was deliberately removed from the inventory, sparking controversy as for whether or not redstone tagging is allowed.
Grian
Iskall85
Grian picks up the rulebook from MumboJumbo's base and heads off in search of a victim. He wants to tag someone while flying despite having few rockets. He first finds GoodTimesWithScar AFK, then mistakes Docm77's diamond-armour-clad horse Carl for a player. He finds Docm77 himself next, but Docm77 lobs an Ender Pearl that teleports him to safety just before Grian can tag him. He then goes for Stressmonster101, who - apparently without realising it - dodges him. She promptly goes AFK. He attempts to tag Cubfan135 one more time but messes it up due to bad flying in general (yes, this is Grian). He then restocks on rockets and finds and AFK Stressmonster101 yet again. He spots Iskall85 nearby and flies around him to tag him, and ultimately succeeds, although he fails his goal of tagging someone while flying.
Iskall85
cubfan135
Just before the two get together and build their Guardian farm, Iskall85 tags Cubfan135 by surprise.
GoodTimesWithScar While GoodTimesWithScar is looking through his books for enchantments, Cubfan135 sneaks up on him from behind and hits him. It appears in GoodTimesWithScar's POV as if Cubfan135 is invisible, as GoodTimesWithScar doesn't see him.
GoodTimesWithScar
ImpulseSV
GoodTimesWithScar pretends to lose his iTrade pass and meets up with ImpulseSV at iTrade. In GoodTimesWithScar's POV, he tags ImpulseSV at iTrade. In ImpulseSV's POV, he escapes from GoodTimesWithScar at iTrade, but GoodTimesWithScar follows him to his base and tags him while he's distracted examining the villager at the carrot farm.
ImpulseSV
Zedaph
Zedaph cheats to get into iTrade and ImpulseSV notices. As punishment, he gives Zedaph a "slap on the wrist", essentially tagging him.
Zedaph It seems that at this point, it is mandatory for the tagged person to wear a villager head. Zedaph was invisible and chasing TangoTek (it seems that they were on discord, and had some agreement about TangoTek not flying or something similar). They run around and TangoTek finally gets tagged.
TangoTek When Cubfan135 and GoodTimesWithScar were working on some redstone, TangoTek was watching with his spectator account and had his main account sneaking and hiding nearby. Cubfan135 dug straight into TangoTek and got tagged.
cubfan135
Xisumavoid
Xisumavoid was livestreaming and Cubfan135 swoops in with a Potion of the Turtle Master and tags him. There is then some confusion over whether tagging someone in a livestream was legal or not, and Xisumavoid finally accepts the tag.
Xisumavoid Xisumavoid notices that Evil Xisuma has been stalking him on the server, and sets up a bait for him. Evil Xisuma falls for it and presses a button Xisumavoid has labelled "Destroy the Hermitcraft server", which equips Evil Xisuma with the tag head, trousers, the tag itself and the rulebook.
Evil Xisuma
iJevin
Evil Xisuma surprises iJevin with the tag, swooping in with Elytra and catching iJevin unawares.
iJevin
Iskall85
iJevin tries to tag MumboJumbo, but doesn't seize the opportunity, allowing MumboJumbo to escape. He then switches to Iskall85 upon finding his base and tags him while he's in the middle of a big dig.
Iskall85
Grian
The tag is on iJevin hires Iskall85 to assassinate Grian (as payback for the time Grian pranked iJevin and accidentally killed him) and tells the viewers to warn Grian. Grian then creates a panic room, allows Iskall85 to chase him there and then triggers the trap which sends Iskall85 to a fatal fall. It would not have been fatal if Iskall85 had been wearing his regular leggings and helmet, but he had the tag gear on. When Grian goes to return all of Iskall85's stuff to him, Iskall85 tags Grian.
Grian
FalseSymmetry
Grian starts trolling some people, pretending to tag them. FalseSymmetry follows the chat and gets complacent, thinking Grian doesn't plan on tagging anyone. Grian camps out near FalseSymmetry's base and tags her, incurring the wrath of her wolves and her PvP in the process (she switches to her diamond sword and turns around within a fraction of a second of being hit).
FalseSymmetry
Biffa2001
FalseSymmetry sneaks into Biffa2001's mansion and says "nice red carpet" in chat, to which Biffa2001 replies "Who, me?". FalseSymmetry then says "not at all", and Biffa2001 is now alerted to her presence in his house (her elytra is actually visible in the corner of his screen a few seconds earlier, but he's too caught up in trying to get to the terrace before Rendog goes to sleep). Biffa2001 shoots FalseSymmetry when he sees her, and she runs away and somehow manages to sneak up on Biffa2001 without crouching (Biffa2001 is facing the other way) and tags him.
Biffa2001
Docm77
Biffa2001 sneaks into the Stock Exchange Building and spies Docm77 building. He tries to tag Docm77, but Docm77 gets away at the last moment. After multiple attempts (including one where Docm77 flies straight through Biffa2001), Docm77 decides to give Biffa2001 a fair chance and instantly pays the price.
Docm77
Rendog
Docm77 has the challenge to kill the person before tagging them. Docm77 collabs with Rendog for a long time, and when they go to the Stock Building, Docm77 carries out his plan. He lets Rendog swim in the diamond Jacuzzi, and puts pufferfish in there. When Rendog comes back to collect his stuff, Docm77 tags him.
Grian (Scar) Rendog and Grian set up a trap for GoodTimesWithScar in his log shop. As they are setting it up, GoodTimesWithScar logs on, forcing the two to improvise. Grian asks GoodTimesWithScar to look down a hole that Grian and Rendog dug out. As GoodTimesWithScar peers down into it, Grian pushes him in and whispers to Rendog that GoodTimesWithScar is in. As GoodTimesWithScar tries to fly out, Grian blocks it off. GoodTimesWithScar then tries to pillar up, when Rendog comes and falls all the way down into the hole. Grian then jumps onto GoodTimesWithScar's pillar and pushes him down again, where Rendog tags him and promptly dies to an endermite.
