Rendog, known as Ren for short, is a South African-British Gaming YouTuber, and is an active member of the Hermitcraft server. He joined Hermitcraft at the beginning of Season 4, along with Iskall85, Welsknight, Cubfan135 and GoodTimesWithScar. He is currently a full-time YouTuber. Rendog originally gained his fame through his Let's Play Terraria series. This series ended on Episode 99 and was revived in 2015 this time ending on only episode 19. His next biggest series was his Let's Play Minecraft series, with the first episode reaching over 1.5 million views as of November 2022. He has 679,000 subscribers to his channel. His most viewed video is Minecraft Survival Let's Play [S1 Episode 1] - Unlucky cows, Rainforests and Mole Holes!

Rendog shared a base on a mushroom island with Iskall85. He was part of a revolution, and worked on FRED the game. His base was called the Netherboard and was made mostly of black and orange concrete in the Plastic Fantastic style.

Season 6

Ren started Season 6 'fashionably late', and spent the first twenty minutes of his time on the server lost, trying to find his plot of land. He was situated in the fantasy district, on the other side of a river from False. His starter base, the Renhole, was the 'jankiest' base he had ever had. It was dug inside a hill and included a very laggy cooked chicken farm.

He invested all of his cooked chicken into his Stax 4 Stax chicken shop, in which he gave the Hermits a selection of payment options for cooked chicken, as he needed other things more than diamonds.

He quickly began work on his first community project of the server, the HRN - Hermit Railway Network. Spanning the entire hermit island, the HRN was planned to have four main stations, for each cardinal direction, and give the Hermits quick access to anywhere on the main Hermit island.

Rendog also made a storyline about Ren-Bob and helped with the Area 77 storyline with Grian and ImpulseSV.

Rendog's base consisted of Tomato Yoshi's playpen, a training center/sugarcane farm, a dragon tower, and a creeper farm. On the outskirts of his base, he had a dead dragon fossil and floating eye power lifting a chunk of the ground.

Rendog also shared a ravine with FalseSymmetry, sharing a storage system and a super smelter.

He was also the first person to die in the game of Demise, drawing Exit The Aquarium, managing to break out but falling to his death off the top. When he died, he created a few nicknames for himself: The Reaper and GrimDog.

Season 7

For his starter base, he was stranded on Loser Island, with a mooshroom named Pamela, Sandy Cat and Professor Mernard Tiddlebink MD. iJevin stole Pamela, so he challenged iJevin to a wrestling match when he couldn't pay the ransom (that he later won). He wanted to create a base underneath Loser Island, but he changed his mind when he accidentally blew it up during a session with the Boomers, killing Pamela and destroying all his items. Instead, he moved to the mesa near the jungle where Grian, MumboJumbo, Iskall85, and Stressmonster101 live, forming the Valley of Tatooren. He connected his part of the jungle up to the rest of the nether with the Sith Nether Hub, which was a huge Sith castle connecting to Stressmonster's Nether speedway.

Rendog's main base is based on the desert planet of Tatooine from Star Wars, with a TIE Advanced fighter, a small desert hut, and a sandcrawler housing a now broken concrete maker. As of now he is working on the landscape of Darth Vader's Fortress, terraforming a large chunk of mesa to volcanic wasteland. The interior of Darth Vader's castle was accidently blown up for a bit when RenDog was exploding his way to bedrock. He has plans to make the Mos Eisley cantina on the desert as well.

The Quadrachopper, as seen in Rendog's Episode 14

Rendog has rebuilt Big Logz. Inc from Season 6, re-branding it as Bigger Logz Inc. He has built a large area with a skeleton grinder, a Quadrachopper (tree farm),and a company office. This area has continued to grow, with the recent additions of a sapling nursery, a fungus farm, and item pipelines connecting it all. His blimp would make deliveries of logs to people's bases and it crashed one time at Iskall's tree. Bob from Accounting was blamed. His main shop is made of 3 blimps carrying normal logs, nether logs and various nether tree things. The blimp was dyed purple one time during the Get Gorgeous campaign as Ren was a supporter of Stressmonster101 to do Darth Maul's bidding.

Dr. Renstein

Dr. Renstein is another one of Rendog's skins. He is a scientist he played a major role in the Season 7 Turf War. He made the machine that spread the mooshrooms and Mycelium for the Mycelium Resistance. He also works for Rendog and Renporer. He also has an office in Season 7 Aqua Town.

Rendog and Docm77 joined the server via Ren-Bob's van from Season 6. The hippie van was later turned into Rendog's starter base.

Biggest Logs Inc. Tank crane thing

During Season 8 Rendog's storyline mainly consisted of the Octagon, a shopping empire run by him and Docm77, also known as the Rendoc Shopping Empire. At the end of Rendog's videos there were often clues that contained instructions for him and Docm77. Some were coordinates, login info or even a link to a planet minecraft template, which the viewers would then post into the comment sections.

Rendog's woodshop from previous seasons returned, this time rebranded as Biggest Logz Inc. The shop looks like a giant tank with a crane on top, powered by the “Juice of the logs” as Rendog states. In the middle of the shop are 6 green energy cells with the different wood types in the middle of them.

The shop takes both diamonds and Derpcoin as currency, pricing in at 3 diamonds or derp coins per stack of logs.

Octatown

Octatown is a town located on the continent of season 8 near the RV and connected to the Octagon via a bridge. It was Rendog's town project. The town contains multiple wheat fields, the Powernode 1, a windmill, an auditorium and various other buildings. The auditorium contains all the little bits and pieces that Rendog and Docm77 had collected during the season.

In Rendoc's season finale, the auditorium turned into a shrine for the moon, with a moonrock telling them to kill a bunch of hermits and in the end, also themselves. Once they collected all the heads the final phase of the Hermatrix was set in motion.

Start of the Season

At the start of Season 9, Rendog created a small hut for himself (called Ren's Doghouse) with Cubfan135 living in his basement. Shortly after, Rendog constructed the GIGA Pies pumpkin pie shop, splitting the profits with Cubfan135. During this period, Rendog was contacted by Rosie, who he met at the end of Season 8, and asked him to search for a Mushroom Island biome, where later a giant rocket, the GIGAPOD, landed.

Ren the King

Later in the season, and because he started building the roads in the shopping district, Rendog was crowned king by BdoubleO100 in a meeting with the Hermits on the Monolith. All the events are registered, in great detail, here.

Empires Crossover

Rendog arrived weeks later to the crossover, and there he built a house in an island near Pixlriffs' Ancient Capital. After learning about Hermitopia, Rendog moved his home base to the side of the building. He did so with the help of a potion created by Shubble.

He returned to Hermitcraft with all of the Hermits, as shown in his twentieth-five episode.

Megabase

Rendog has officially settled on the Mushroom Island, where he has built several farms. He has begun to work with EthosLab to build a large boat race on a huge cold biome that is located on the south side of the server.

Outside of Hermitcraft

Rendog's Let's Play Minecraft series was very popular and grew his subscriber and view count greatly. He made 5 series of the same world each with 100 episodes in them. He finished at Season 5: Episode 34 because he claimed that it brought back too many bad memories. He then created a new Let's Play Minecraft series on 12 September 2017.

Rendog played on the Life Series SMP for the first 3 seasons, alongside multiple other Hermits.

Dogcraft Fanbase

A Rendog fan is referred to as a Cyberdog. A platform for the Rendog fanbase is Dogcraft.net where one can play on a server with fellow Cyberdogs.

MrBeast Donation

In September 2019 during a livestream, Mr. Beast donated him US$10,000. However, Ren stated that he was going to give the money to someone who was less well off than him, since he was making plenty of money from his YouTube channel.

Trivia

• He was born in Bloemfontein (which means flower fountain in Afrikaans), the same city as J.R.R. Tolkien
• His intro music was created by his brother, who posts incredible music on his YouTube channel called Shmidi.
• His Minecraft username is Renthedog.
• He can play the guitar.
• He is left handed.
• He sleeps in a plank-like position on his side, with the one arm completely under his side. During a Hermitcraft Collab Twitch stream on April 28, 2024 Rendog revealed that he is starting to experience shoulder pain due to his sleeping position.
