MumboJumbo, known as Mumbo for short, is a YouTuber and active member of the Hermitcraft server, known for his redstone videos. He joined at the start of Season 2. As of 20 November 2020, he has 6,790,000 subscribers[1] and is the most subscribed of the Hermits. He is one of the five Hermits who have over a million subscribers on YouTube, is one of the only two Hermits with over 5 million subscribers along with Grian. His most viewed video is Minecraft: 20 More Doors In 100 Seconds, a sequel to his Minecraft: 20 Doors in 100 Seconds, videos where he showcases 20 redstone piston doors by walking through all of them in under 100 seconds.
Season 2
MumboJumbo built an old-school iron farm and created his first sorting machine on Hermitcraft. MumboJumbo’s main base for his first season was a jungle-themed village-style build surrounded by a stone colosseum-style wall. He created many strange builds this season, including a chicken pipeline, a very unique cactus farm, and a redstone museum.
Season 3
Base
MumboJumbo built his base in a cleared-out swamp (which was turned into a lake as a result). The base had a main entrance from a railway leading to the Hermit Hills. He made a goal at the beginning of the season to not build this with stone bricks, which he accomplished and made heavy use of white and tan blocks such as snow, iron, and sandstone. At the back of the base was a slime block piston elevator leading to a viewing platform close to the height limit, with the large spawning chamber to a mob grinder around the middle. This mob grinder stored drops in an exterior storage system. In the inner circle of the base, MumboJumbo constructed an artificial ice spike biome surrounding the mob grinder storage. The outer circle had a floor 13 blocks below the surface of the lake. That level had 4 3x3 doors leading to different parts of his base on its outside and open doorways to the inner circle on the inside of the circle. At the very heart of MumboJumbo's base was a two-story cylinder directly below the ice spikes and mob grinder. The corners of the top floor featured large glass windows into the outer circle, and each side (the north, east, west and south sides) had the open doorways connecting to a four-way bridge focusing on the center. The convergence point of the bridges has a ladder leading down to the lower floor, which contained two doors, one of which led to a walkway through his fully automated sugarcane, melon, and pumpkin farm (the crops harvested were stored in a large chest silo here) while the other led to various other rooms. These rooms included an open room containing an automatic chicken farm with his storage system in the next room, while two other sets of stairs led down to a lower level containing a standard nether wart farm, redstone brewing stations, and pens for various animals.
Hermit Hills
After being pranked by FalseSymmetry with a large pixel art of Olaf the snowman, he decided to plant an even larger pixel art of Shrek (dubbed the Mega Shrek) directly above iJevin's base, which was very close to FalseSymmetry’s base. At the base of the pixel art, MumboJumbo built in red lettering, "Stay out of my swamp!".
Season 4
He became the spoon and created a flying mob farm base, with an industrial area at the bottom along with fan creations including a spoon with a moustache. His base was not accessible from the Nether.
Season 5
Base
In Hermitcraft Season 5, MumboJumbo built his base from an ocean monument. He cleared out the monument and the surrounding water in order to create a guardian farm. Underground, he created a storage system that was decorated with different 'biomes', with each biome corresponding to a group of blocks/items. He also made a diamond structure on the surface of the ocean around the hole. He later expanded, building the structures he later called 'coffee tables' where he built his many farms for Season 5. On a coastal taiga biome nearby he also built a town. This town featured a few buildings and a redstone quarry. He also created TNT powered tree and cobblestone farms on an island he suitably named 'TNT Land'. He decorated the island with a wall and a roller coaster.
Gaming District
MumboJumbo also made a few contributions to Season 5's gaming district. His first was the Slabyrinth, which was a minigame where players would have to navigate through a maze as fast as possible. Later in the season, he built a mini theme park, which boasted three separate minigames. He made an arcade basketball minigame, a whack-a-mole minigame, and a minecart race minigame. MumboJumbo later created an elytra course called 'Hermit Flies'.
Season 6
Season 6 was MumboJumbo's fifth season on the Hermitcraft server.
Base
For more details, see MumboJumbo's Season 6 Base.
His base was centred around a group of small islands off the coast of the Futuristic District. A massive sphere on top of the largest island, dubbed the 'MumBall', was MumboJumbo's largest build on the server. This contained his sorting system, and was decorated in four landscaped quadrants. MumboJumbo purchased the services of GoodTimesWithScar to terraform the islands below into blockier shapes, and constructed futuristic buildings containing farms on them.
On his second-largest island, he constructed a villager breeding and trading system. He called this place 'Evil Island'. After the release of 1.14, when all villager based farms broke, MumboJumbo decided to retire Evil Island. He made the structures into ruins by covering them with leaves made to look like giant vines.
Starter Base
On the largest island, MumboJumbo constructed a treehouse. It was later removed because it didn't fit the futuristic theme. He also built a bunker beneath the island that was later flooded with water. This was not removed, as MumboJumbo argued that a post-apocalyptic theme was still futuristic and fit with the theme.
Shopping District (list of shops)
- 'Iskallium Shop', a shop selling slimeballs
- 'Spoiler Store', a shop opened before Mumbo's video was released. Visitors were told to pay a fee for spoiling the video. After the video came out, the store became useless, and was repurposed into the Film Store.
- The 'Film Store', where MumboJumbo would create a film advertising other shops for a price of 64 diamonds. MumboJumbo created two advertisements: for Xisumavoid's Instant Repair store and for Team Star in the Prank War.
- 'Mumbo's Pop-up Rocket Shop', a competitor to TangoTek's rocket shop. The shop was meant to disappear and relocate if TangoTek found out about it. However, when TangoTek found out, TangoTek decided to "blow up" MumboJumbo's shop, and sent it to the build limit.
- Sahara, a store in collaboration with Architech designed to sell a lot of different items, inspired by Amazon in real life.
Architech
For more details, see Architech.
MumboJumbo and Grian created an alliance, known initially as Build Stone, but later changed to Architech. Grian realised that, combined with MumboJumbo's redstone skill, they could achieve a lot more than Grian's building could do alone. This was also strengthened by the fact that MumboJumbo and Grian were already good friends, and Grian, being new to Hermitcraft in Season 6, didn't know many of the people on the server. MumboJumbo and Grian constructed a messaging/mailing system between their bases to send messages to each other when one was offline, and to keep others from knowing their plans. MumboJumbo and Grian also created a machine called the Stachinator. It removed MumboJumbo's moustache, and randomly placed it somewhere else on the server. They charged players three stacks of diamonds to run the machine. MumboJumbo also created a redstone water-elevator for Grian that took advantage of the new 1.13 water mechanics to shoot Grian up to a given floor.
After the prank war, MumboJumbo and Grian also recruited Iskall85 to join the Architechs due to him helping spur the early prank war and also to help build Sahara, a shop inspired by the real-life Amazon and a plan to rival ConCorp. Grian was mainly involved in the building of the store and was helped by the others. MumboJumbo and Iskall85 focused on the redstone system.
Events
For more details, see Tag.
In Tag, he was tagged by Docm77, and tagged Grian in his next episode. He placed 3rd in Demise. He changed his skin to grey scale at 8:15 am on December 21, 2019 (as seen in NameMC) and was confirmed dead in his next video. He also made The Saturator, which over-saturated most of the hermits.
Hermitcraft Civil War
For more details, see Season 6 Prank War.
MumboJumbo was on two sides of the prank/civil war. At first, Grian and Iskall from G-Team met up with him to tell him to become a mole, where he would join Team Star and relay information back to G-Team. Grian arranged for him to say BANANAS in the chat when Team STAR was planning to attack. However, he was caught because of spamming it, making Docm77 suspicious, which led to him meeting up with Grian to tell him that MumboJumbo was now on G-Team, in exchange for MumboJumbo's Moustache, which ended up on the front of Team Star's base. He won with G-Team, dying right after Grian captured the final flag.
Build Off
For more details, see Hermitcraft Build Off.
In Episode 101, he made the biggest house (saying in the description "May not actually be the biggest house".), only to be beaten by Grian extending his chimney a bit, who was beaten by Iskall85's flying house in the same episode. He in Ep. 106 came together with Iskall and Grian to declare who was the winner. However they all tied for the tallest house.
Memes and In-Jokes
Bumboni
For more details, see Bumbos.
Continuing on from previous seasons, hermits (especially Iskall85) decorated structures with moustaches and derpy faces to parody MumboJumbo's face, dubbing them "Bumboni".
Mumbo AFK
For more details, see Mumbo AFK.
One episode, MumboJumbo was standing AFK in his bunker, when Grian came along to steal some of MumboJumbo's belongings. In reference to MumboJumbo's frequent AFK status on the server, he made up the Mumbo AFK tune. A Youtuber called Elybeatmaker later remixed this song, as well as many other songs by many other Hermits.
Season 7
Starter Base
MumboJumbo has a starter base similar to Grian's, both based off of hobbit holes. It has circular sections and two rooms including a simple storage system, some redstone farms and an enchanting room. MumboJumbo also called himself Bumbo Baggins, and he had a different skin from usual, to make him look more like a Hobbit. A tunnel was built and decorated by Grian between his and MumboJumbo's starter bases. He quit being Bumbo Baggins and moved out of his hobbit hole once his Mega Base was constructed.
Hermit Challenges
For more details, see Hermit Challenges.
MumboJumbo organised a challenge group called 'Hermit Challenges' with Iskall85. Later, Grian and Stressmonster101 were added to the group.
*Grian was challenged to steal doors for the whole season 7.*
Main base
For more details, see MumboJumbo's Season 7 Ancient Monument.
From Season 7: Episode 10, MumboJumbo started building his base's "Mega Wrenches". In his Season 7: Episode 15, he finished filling in his main base 'wrenches' with White Concrete and Iron Blocks. A few episodes later, he began the central tower in a completely different style than the wrenches, the idea being that a future civilization was preserving an ancient monument. In his episode 39, he began an item sorter under the main tower. In episode 54 he changed the heart so when you were in the anywhere in the base you could hear the heart, originally you could only hear the heart when you were right next to it. The reason he made a heart is because he made his base alive, the base is eating golden apples to stay alive.
IBBBBBBBBIBI
MumboJumbo's IBBBBBBBBBIBI (In-Between-Bases-Base-Built-By-Bumbo-Baggins-But-Inspired-By-Iskall) was meant in style to be a fusion of the ruinous part of his base and his hobbit hole. It had a 7 furnace super smelter, a room full of storage silos, a bedroom, and a bedroom. Grian would add random blocks to the base: a green parrot's head in the storage silos, a noteblock in the main storage room, and a MumboJumbo head in the bedroom, which he found somewhat unnerving. It was demolished to make way for his storage system chamber.
Selling His Bits
For more details, see Buy Mumbo's Bits.
In episodes 16 and 17, he sold his 'bits' for diamonds. He sold his moustache to TangoTek for 64 diamonds, his suit to Iskall85 for 16 diamonds, and his hair to Grian for 16 diamonds.
Moustache
TangoTek took his moustache, using a chainsaw to do it. Tango now wears his moustache, while MumboJumbo is left with an open-mouthed, two-toothed grin as a result of the process. The face represents Bumbo, as stated in one of MumboJumbo's episodes. A lunch bag was placed onto MumboJumbo's head by Grian, and stayed there until MumboJumbo got his moustache back. After a meeting with Grian regarding the Mayor Campaign. MumboJumbo requested TangoTek for his moustache back to make him look more trustworthy. He used his ravager transportation system to smash the moustache back onto MumboJumbo.
Hair
Grian originally wanted MumboJumbo's moustache, but TangoTek had already purchased it. To resolve this, Grian 'cut' a moustache-shaped bald patch in the back of MumboJumbo's hair to create a glue-on moustache for himself.
Suit
Iskall85 changed MumboJumbo's skin to feature 'dad jeans', keeping his torso's tie and top of his suit.
Iskall85 He also cut down the arms off of his suit, leaving them bare. Recently, Iskall85 gave the suit to StressMonster101 as a token of luck at a meeting regarding the mayor campaign. Iskall85 has was later Hermit Challenged to return the suit. As a stopgap measure, MumboJumbo has made a suit out of bamboo. Iskall85 failed to return the suit because at the time StressMonster101 had taken a small break from Hermitcraft. StressMonster101 later returned the suit to MumboJumbo, who commented that his normal suit felt weird after being in a different suit for so long.
The Button
For more details, see The Button.
In his his Episode 14, he built a minigame called The Button. He put it in a testing phase and then released it to the public. There are many ranks corresponding with colours of accessories players put on their skin (belts, eye patches, etc.).
The Button died May 26, surviving for a total of 41 days.
Industrial District
Mumbo Jumbo and Iskall85 challenged each other to make an industrial district. Mumbo's own Industrial District is built in the style of an industrial wasteland, with the grass all replaced by path blocks. In his episode 50, he creates the Industrial Day Pass Store, which sells a day pass for a Hermit to go and use his Industrial District for one day. They can take as many materials as they want, but can't reenter without buying another pass.
Mayor Campaign
For more details, see The Mayor Election.
Grian campaigned for MumboJumbo, posted signs all over the Season 7 Shopping District, and built a Moustache-shaped head quarters with a Grumbot. He lost in a landslide, with Grian and himself not even voting for Mumbo, and a total of 0 votes. Grumbot is in a VR world to prevent him from melting again.
Getting Rich
MumboJumbo has plans to get rich off the Nether, and is starting by asking Iskall85 for help with a wither skeleton farm. He has also built a basalt generator. He also created the Build Now, Pay Later scheme for ODEA.

Outside of Hermitcraft
Redstone Videos
MumboJumbo alternates between posting Hermitcraft and Redstone videos on his channel. His older redstone videos have been mostly tutorials, where MumboJumbo shows how to construct redstone contraptions, and shows off redstone builds he has made. MumboJumbo has been showing his process of creating contraptions by taking on challenges and experimenting with new ideas. He sometimes issues challenges to viewers, then creates a video later showing off the best contraptions he's found. MumboJumbo also had a series called 'I build your silly redstone ideas', where he constructed several redstone builds suggested to him, generally on his Twitter.
Other Minecraft Videos
MumboJumbo occasionally posts a non-redstone, non-Hermitcraft video. Examples of these are "Things only ORIGINAL MINECRAFTERS Remember! ", "20 SMALL Features in Minecraft That Make it GREAT! ", and "How to BUILD NEW THINGS in Minecraft! ". MumboJumbo also occasionally makes videos about Minecraft life hacks, and does experiments to help him play more efficiently.
Filming Channel
MumboJumbo also has a second channel, which he calls the Filming Channel. This channel was called 'Mumbo Vlogs', until later changed to 'Mumbo'. On this channel, MumboJumbo will occasionally post short films, or mini-documentaries. MumboJumbo has spent some of the last couple of years making high-quality short films.
