Kiershar's Checkered Mob Farm is Kiershar's main base for Season 1. Floating above the northwestern ocean, it is barely out of render distance from the northern tip of the mushroom island where the Minigame District is located. To the distant northeast is JoeHills' Bay; to the distant east is Generikb's Jungle Base; to the southeast is Keralis' Jungle Base; to the south is the Spawn Village; to the distant southwest is Biffa's Bowl; to the distant west is Dinnerbone and Marc_IRL's Island House.
Places of Interest[]
Mob Farm[]
The highly efficient mob farm made of cobblestone and nether bricks. Six platforms spawn mobs that are funneled through lava before hitting the collection chamber, where their drops are collected in hoppers. Next to the hopper collection system is a large manual storage system filled with rotten flesh, string (and wool), gunpowder, arrows, and bones. A conveyor belt timer using snow, netherrack and glass activates the water streams that funnel the mobs out.
Checkered Bedroom[]
An ice walkway with a nether portal connects the mob farm to a floating room with a checkered pattern, alternating between snow/lapis blocks, snow/jack o'lanterns, and snow/obsidian. Jungle bushes decorate the interior, a bed rests behind some fence posts, and chests and furnaces line the opposite wall.
End Portal[]
At the bottom of the ladder (which extends to y=255, the original build limit), the ladder leads to a floating pool of water hovering on signs. Below the signs is an end portal and an area that leads to a staircase which descends into a corridor with an enchanting set-up and a sand duplicator.
History[]
Kiershar's videos are all private, and he was not very active on the server, thus the history of his base is not clear. In the Second Hermitcraft World, Kiershar built a large mob farm using the same lapis and snow block palette. After the world was reset, Kiershar was de-motivated and played much less frequently.
In Xisumavoid's Season 1: Episode 4, Kiershar had dug the 3x3 area above the end portal and built a ladder up to a nether portal about 10 blocks above the hole. He also built a long sugar cane farm that was eventually torn down. In Xisumavoid's Season 1: Episode 15, Xisumavoid and Biffa2001 used Kiershar's nether portal to search for a new base. Kiershar had torn down the sugar cane farm and extended the ladder further up. He had began constructing the checkered bedroom, using snow, lapis, jack o'lanterns and cobblestone. He had built the floor and the corners by this point. In Xisumavoid's Season 1: Episode 27, Kiershar had constructed the mob farm, and had completed the checkered bedroom, replacing the cobblestone with obsidian. He had placed the bed and brewing chest in the corner, and had placed the 4 furnaces and 8 chests on the opposite wall. Xisumavoid gave Kiershar a stack of lapis blocks. In Keralis' Season 1: Episode 12, Keralis added the jungle bushes inside Kiershar's checkered bedroom, and added vines and jack o'lantern lighting sources (and a smiley face of obsidian in the bottom right chest of the bedroom storage system). In Red3yz' Season 1: Episode 12, Xisumavoid and Red3yz worked on modifying the collection system for the mob trap, which used to connect directly to the top of the ladder leading down to the end portal, but now sits below the mob trap. In Red3yz' Season 1: Episode 13, Red3yz and Xisumavoid added the cobblestone and nether brick slab design to hold the lava, and added the hopper collection system. They also built the large mob farm storage system, and built the ice bridge connecting the storage area to the nether portal and the end portal ladder.
At some point, Jessassin placed a sign saying "Jessassin was here" in the checkered bedroom.
Trivia[]
- Kiershar's Checkered Mob Farm and Biffa's Bowl are the only two bases in Hermitcraft to incorporate the end portal.
- The furnaces in the bedroom only use planks as a fuel source.
- There are brewing materials in a chest near the bed, but there is no brewing stand.
