The Hermitcraft Big Base Swap is an event occurring in Season 7. Hermits who signed up for the event via the Space Spire Countdown were assigned to a partner to swap their bases on February 13, 2021, when the event officially started. Signing up to the event meant renaming and inserting a piece of paper with the Hermit's name on it, which would become a deed that grants the holder complete ownership of their base(s).
The Space Spire Countdown[]
The Space Spire Countdown was the precursor to the Hermitcraft Big Base Swap. It is a structure in the Season 7 Shopping District, near the Grian Emporium and IJevin's Season 7 TNT Shop. It was first discovered in MumboJumbo's Season 7: Episode 68, with resemblance to The Button.
The building was a countdown timer consisting of 12 lamps on each of the four faces. It had smoke pluming from the top and impacted the surrounding terrain to make it seem like it came from space. In front of the structure, Hermits could sign up for an unknown "change" event. After a Hermit signed up by inserting their name into a chest, the Hermit was then given a gold nugget with a message: "YOU ARE INVITED TO THE CHANGE OVER".
Before the countdown ended, it was unknown what the purpose of the structure was, besides a warning that "Change is Coming", or who built it.[1] The only clue that was given was the abbreviation HCBBS, which led to lots of speculation between the Hermits and in the community for what it stood for. It was theorized that MumboJumbo built the structure, as his inventory contained the necessary blocks in his Episode 68.
Hermits that signed up to participate included: Cubfan135, Docm77, FalseSymmetry, GoodTimesWithScar, Grian, IJevin,[2] ImpulseSV, Iskall85, JoeHills, Keralis, MumboJumbo, Stressmonster101, TangoTek, VintageBeef, XBCrafted, Zedaph, and ZombieCleo.
Renamed Warped Wart Blocks[]
Scattered around the structure were numerous item frames that contained a Warped Wart Block, renamed to various messages:

- when the countdown ends, it begins
- Insert name, be a part of Change

Aftermath[]
Once the clock struck zero, the lower portion exploded, exposing a bunker. The true meaning of the acronym HCBBS was revealed as "Hermit Craft Big Base Swap" and all hermits that signed up were given full ownership of another hermit's base and all the resources left behind. These "deeds" can be given to other hermits to give them ownership of the base.

Returned Bases[]
The pairs of Cubfan135 and Docm77, FalseSymmetry and TangoTek, GoodTimesWithScar and MumboJumbo, Grian and Zedaph, ImpulseSV and Stressmonster101, JoeHills and xBCrafted, all eventually swapped back their bases, most keeping their swapped bases for at least four weeks. Keralis and ZombieCleo agreed to share both of their bases for the remainder of the season, as they each had things they wanted to do at both sites.
VintageBeef made a deal with an armour stand Iskall85 to swap back their bases (so that he could work on Three Fox Hole), and Iskall85 accepted the swap, as he also wished to work on his Omega Tree.
Unusual Language[]
Alongside the abbreviation HCBBS, a strange set of characters that seemed to be a cipher were present. It is currently unknown what purpose these serve, however, they bear a striking resemblance to Combining Diacritical Marks, as well as U+25CC DOTTED CIRCLE ◌.

- In the world download for Season 7, each of the lights are connected to a lever, meaning that the lights were all turned off manually.

- ↑ According to Grian's Season 7: Episode 67 the spire is confirmed by Reddit to have been created by MumboJumbo, with evidence of him being inside the structure, leaving materials from the build lying in his inventory, there being no automated timer to switch off the lamps, and instinctively entering the bunker as soon as the countdown exploded. He continues to deny this fact.
