HASA, or the Hermit Aeronautical and Space Administration, was an organization created by TangoTek in Season 8 that worked to prevent the Big Moon catastrophe from occurring by sending TangoTek and his horse, Adequate to the moon to detonate explosives and set the moon back on its normal orbital path.
History[]
TangoTek created the HASA headquarters on an artificial island off the Season 8 continent. He then used a small copper telescope on the roof to measure the size of the moon and calculate the speed of its approach using the HASA supercomputer. Shortly after this, with the moon situation becoming ever more dire, he created Holstein, a superintelligent but sarcastic AI. When asked about how to stop the impending catastrophe, the AI responded that TangoTek should travel to the moon and detonate a payload of TNT to shoot the moon onto its normal orbital path.
TangoTek trained Adequate, his horse, to be an astronaut and constructed a small rocket to take them to the moon. However, Holstein, who was in radio communication with them, soon provoked Adequate into damaging the rocket's navigation computer, leading to them having to stop at a local outlet of Big Eyes' Interstellar Pass'N'Gas, where Keralis sold them a new flight computer. After blasting their way through an asteroid field, and fighting 'Grumbomb', they landed on the moon.
Upon landing on the moon, with the Season 8 world looming over them, he scouted out a location to detonate the TNT payload, finding the Moon Cow that Cubfan135 fired into orbit... right before it died of oxygen deprivation. The location Holstein specified was an explosive crystal deposit. Unfortunately, the location happened to be overrun with killer moon bunnies, impeding any progress in the setup of the explosives. TangoTek returned to the ship to formulate a plan in time to save the world.
Holstein gives TangoTek a message from BdoubleO100 about the state of the world. In summary: everything's going crazy. This pushes TangoTek to accelerate his plans and come up with a means to lure the moon rabbits away from the crystal deposit. Thanks to the carrots among the packed food rations, TangoTek is able to grow enough carrots to create a lure. However, as he is about to head out, a meteorite strikes the spaceship, stranding TangoTek and severing his link with Holstein.
TangoTek proceeds with his scheme to create a carrot cannon that could fire the carrots in a way to lure the bunnies away from the crystal deposit. The plan works, distracting the moon bunnies away from the deposit so TangoTek and Adequate could set up the explosive payload. However, after he had set up a ton of the explosives, a moon bunny lands on the unwisely placed pressure plate that would detonate the TNT, prematurely detonating the TNT and the deposit, ejecting TangoTek into space. Whether or not he also helplessly watched the moon destroy the world or if he mercifully passed out due to the explosion is up to artists and TangoTek himself.
HASA was presumably destroyed by the moon's impact in the process, either immediately or shortly after impact.
