The first modded server of Hermitcraft started seven months after the first vanilla season, on November 12, 2012. It was played in Minecraft Java v. 1.4.7 and had the Mindcrack-curated early beta version of the FTB Ultimate pack. It ended in mid-September 2013. Server admins for this season were Biffa2001 and Topmass.

For the first two months, the server was called "Tame The Beast" and was not an official Hermitcraft venture. Due to a pack upgrade in January 2013, they were forced to reset the map, coming back as the "Hermitcraft FTB" server. The map would be reset for the third and final time a few day later due to the world and all of the world backups corrupting when the mod Mystcraft was added.

Sl1pg8r & TinFoilChef, who would later become established Vanilla server members, got their start on this server. As this was the first modded opportunity for many hermits, some (like Xisumavoid) tested the waters but did not release any episodes from the server.[1]

Notable Builds[]

  • The Spawn Building.
    • Due to the learning curve, the Hermits spent a long time at spawn and built a large complex of buildings with farms and generators. Mystcraft allowed them to use Blazes and Ghasts for XP at spawn. Even after the Hermits moved out to individual bases, Jessassin continued to build up the spawn complex so that Hermits who weren't focusing on some of the more technical mods could still access needed machines. Actual spawn was in a snowy biome but eventually moved to a more temperate plains biome.
  • The Nether Hub.
    • Was never developed much. It consisted of a single large room lined with Mystcraft books.
  • Hypno's Honeycomb.
    • Hypnotizd got heavily into the Forestry mod, a trend that would continue through most of the FTB series, becoming known as a beekeeper. His base was a honeycomb shape and full to the brim with alvearies.
  • Keralis's Marble Village.
  • DMAC's Brick Complex.
  • Dingletron Industries HQ.
    • Topmass and Unhost's joint base. Included wither skeleton spawner.
  • TFC's Massive Factory.
