The Empires Rift Incursion is the second part of the Hermitcraft x Empires crossover, and it is the Empires SMP as guests on the Hermitcraft server.
Previously on Empires SMP[]
Previously, the Hermits went through The Rift to see what is on the other side of the portal, starting the Rift Incursion event on the Empires server. The Rift on the Hermitcraft side unexpectedly went offline, effectively stranding the Hermits on the other side. Only a handful stayed on the Hermitcraft side, those either inactive or had stayed out of the crossover to do their own adventures meanwhile.
While welcomed warmly on the Empires side of the portal, there was a collective desire to return home. The Hermits made Hermitopia as their base, and prepared to return to Hermitcraft. Grian also declared the Hermits their own species independent from the Empires SMP members, and making Hermitopia their own empire location and megabase. Throughout the crossover, the Hermits and Empires SMP also played tag, visited the empires, and had many collaborations.
When Hermitopia was nearing completion, Grian set to work creating a new Grumbot named "Emperor Grumbot" to reignite their way home, which was relatively easy to do, besides some of the rarer resources required to give Emperor Grumbot some arms and hands. The machine was eventually completed and brought the Rift back online. When the Hermits prepared to return home, it was revealed the Empires SMP had blocked off the Rift to try to keep the Hermits there against their will, as they had been helpful to the empires, and a desperate rush for the Rift occurred which ended in the Hermits successfully entering the Rift.
