A Decked Out 2 card's structural design

Cards in Decked Out 2 are collected by players and provide a combination of power-ups and debuffs throughout the game. They are either bought from the post-run Frost Ember Shop after a player successfully retrieves an artifact or bought from the Crown Shop in the lobby using Crowns. There were plans to allow legendary cards to be crafted using The Forge, but this was scrapped in phase 8.

Players can build different decks in order to get different benefits from the dungeon. For example, a player may make a deck to maximize the amount of Treasure that drops in a game, sacrificing the amount of Clank block they have, therefore reducing the amount of time that they can spend in the dungeon.

The players' deck is collected on entry to the dungeon, and the cards are randomly shuffled upon input, as well as whenever a card is drawn. Cards are called every 30 seconds throughout the run, but some cards can change this time interval. A special card called 'Stumble' is added to the players deck every 2 minutes. The Stumble card adds 2 Clank when it is drawn, and according to TangoTek, it was designed to stop players camping in the dungeon. Decks are limited to 40 cards - any more cards put in the deck will not be counted. On the top right of the card, there is a number that indicates how many copies of that particular card can be held in a deck at once - if more duplicates are given than what is allowed, they will be ignored.[note 1]

Types[]

There are three types of cards: Normal, Permanent and Ethereal.

During a run, normal cards are called throughout, permanent cards are called instantly at the beginning, and ethereal cards are either permanent or normal cards, but they are one-time-use, which means they are not returned to the deck after a round when they were drawn from the deck and played. The normal ethereal cards that aren't drawn during a game (either because the player dies or gets out before the card is played) are returned to the deck. Permanent ethereal cards are always played before the round starts and as such are never returned to the player's deck.

Notably, Permanent cards have a special border resembling that of Reinforced Deepslate on the left and right edge of the card.

Cards are grouped into five different ranks:

The cards were originally grouped into six ranks, including Legendary Cards (Purple). Due to the end of the game, what was reported during phase 8, they will not be developed. These can now be found in the Changelog.

Common Cards (Grey)[]

Decorated with a grey frame, a common card starts at 6 Frost Embers and goes up to 10 Frost Embers. There are 5 common cards in total: four normal cards and one ethereal card.

Uncommon Cards (Green)[]

Decorated with a green frame, an uncommon card starts at 16 Frost Embers and goes up to 40 Frost Embers. There are 14 uncommon cards in total: thirteen normal cards and one permanent card.

Rare Cards (Blue)[]

Decorated with a blue frame, a rare card starts at 42 Frost Embers and goes up to 66 Frost Embers. There are 12 rare cards in total: nine normal cards and three permanent cards.
