The Deepfrost Citadel[]
The entrance to Decked Out 2 and the location for all activities related to the dungeon, save for the dungeon itself. The citadel is an imposing blackstone castle accented with cyan blocks and soul flames, and its tallest tower resembles the face of a Warden.
The Grand Hall[]
The adventurers' lobby. The first and largest room in the citadel, the Grand Hall is ringed by 22 locker rooms (or "alcoves" as the hermits call them), which players can claim with a sign and decorate as they please. Each locker room contains the player's starter deck (A shulker box labeled "Frozen Assets") and a box for depositing any Victory Tomes the player has collected over their many runs.
Scoreboard[]
Just beyond the Grand Hall is a large, empty wall. Each player is required to place their own skull at the bottom of the wall, behind which layers of snow are added to represent their score. The layers represent one point at the start, since the scoreboard is designed at six blocks high, the game could last up to 54 points if one player wins all nine phases.
Crown Shop[]
Crowns obtained in the dungeon can be used here to buy a wide variety of items. Every 2 hours, a random selection of items will be put up for sale, including Frozen Shards, Ethereal Cards, and items usable in the dungeon. Until the shop is reloaded, only one purchase can be made per item, each of which has a different chance of appearing.
Items can be purchased by inserting the correct amount of crowns into the shulker box below the desired item. The item will then drop from the ceiling above the shop.
Some prices were adjusted in Phase 5, and again during Phase 7.

Tutorial and Sound Test Room[]
Up a small staircase to the left of the scoreboard is a room featuring demonstrations of the dungeon's various custom sounds, and lecterns instructing players on their usage and meaning.
Easter Egg Monument[]
To the right of the scoreboard is a monument consisting of 19 hermit-patterned eggs and one gold one. Each egg represents a very literal easter egg within levels 1-3 of the dungeon, each containing one egg, an accompanying building block, and a barrel with several crowns. To unlock the fourth level of the dungeon, the Hermits had to work together to locate each egg within the dungeon, then fill out the monument with each egg's respective building block.
The final egg, GoodTimesWithScar's, was found by PearlescentMoon on November 3, 2023. After all the easter eggs were found during Phase 7 launch (and Phase 6 recap), PearlescentMoon was awarded the Decked Out Easter Egg Hunter! trophy for finding 8 out of the total 20 eggs.
The lectern reads:
To unlock this fourth and final level the adventurers must work together and find 20 hidden idols within the dungeon. Note the block those idols rest upon and replicate it here, replacing the snow under each idol.
TangoTek published a 10-minute video on November 15, 2023, displaying each Decked Out 2 easter egg found.

Waiting Room[]
Directly above the lobby is a large waiting room ("The Q", or "Daycare") accessible by bubble column elevator. In contrast to the dark, imposing walls of the citadel, the waiting room features bright, playroom-like walls plastered with imagery of rolling hills, clouds, and a shining yellow sun in a blue sky.
This room, built by the Hermits during the dungeon's opening day livestream, is essentially a sandbox for players waiting for their turn to enter the dungeon. Its contents are in constant flux, but has contained features such as a bed, an armor stand queue system to track who is next in line for the dungeon, a stage, a set of note-block buzzers for quiz games, and a bookshelf for community tips about the dungeon.
The Ravager Backrooms[]
During Phase 3, as a tribute to the "clinical and pristine" design of the Portal game chambers, Grian designed[4] a training area referred to as "The Ravager Backrooms", which is accessible through the Waiting Room and houses a Ravager named "Jellie".
This area simulates some of the harder areas that a Decked Out 2 player might encounter when entering the dungeon. The area consists of a few pillars and chasms, a model version of The River of Souls, the Crypt's staircase, and a small Dripstone river near the entrance. The room also features a large cube-shaped pool at its center, which is meant to resemble the shipwreck room in The Caves of Carnage, and it has a Trident Drowned named "The Worst!!!".
Dungeon Entrance[]
Finally, to the left of the scoreboard is the entrance to the dungeon proper. Upon placing a Frozen Shard in the barrel on the floor, the door will open with a custom animated sequence featuring multiple custom models.
Inside the door, players are instructed to set their spawn in the bed and place their items in the provided chests. A berry bush is also provided, allowing you to hurt yourself and eat (for maximum saturation at the beginning of gameplay); and a return chest for your deck and any items you obtained while in the dungeon.
In the next room, players select their desired difficulty (Easy, Medium, Hard, Deadly, Deepfrost),
loads their deck, and finally, ride a minecart to the first floor of the dungeon and begin their run.
The Dungeon[]
In the dungeon, four levels lie beneath the Deepfrost Citadel, each deeper than the last. Level Keys must be looted and placed where they belong in order to unlock the next level. Sweet berry bushes are scattered around the dungeon, allowing them to feed themselves to keep their saturation high. As part of the dungeon experience, the player also faces Clank and Hazard.
The dungeon's levels are full of mobs, including Ravagers, Vexes, and Wardens. Other mobs should not spawn due to the dungeon's dim lighting. When Clank is very high (the heartbeat is at its fastest) there is a chance for an Evoker to appear, summoning Vexes.
There are some places where the floor goes up by two blocks. Jump Boost II from cards will make these passages accessible. Jump boost is the only way to access some of these passages, but most are minor shortcuts.
In TangoTek's episode 53 he mentions[6] a hand-made pixel art map recreated block by block by a fan named Aureliexx. In order to ensure every block is accurate, Aureliexx claims to have watched over 1,000 hours of gameplay videos. "meticulously measured and placed and artistically drawn in pixel art... the detail is just stunning. pay attention to the details." Tango says.

Secret Rooms[]
There are a few hidden side areas scattered throughout the dungeon. These places add an exciting layer of exploration and challenge for players. As they venture deeper into the Decked Out 2 dungeon, hermits must keep their eyes peeled for clues, puzzles, and hidden objectives. These areas not only provide a sense of adventure but also encourage teamwork and creative problem-solving among the community.
Iron Golem Laboratory[]
Level 2: "The Caves of Carnage", contains a secret Iron Golem Laboratory built by Grian,[7] found in the hole at the Lake Overlook, near the mushroom biome.
This room looks like an experimental laboratory of a mad scientist working on iron golems. A headless iron golem structure appears to be lying on a bed in the middle of the room, with a lava pool behind it. There is a library full of books on the right wall of the room, and cages with iron golems can be found on the left area. On the left wall, you will find a caged iron golem called Rusty.
- On top of the golem lying in the center of the room, there's a drop location for either Treasure, a key for Level 3: "The Black Mines" or Frost Embers.
- When using the Rusty Repair Kit on Rusty, you will be rewarded with Treasure and Frost Embers dropping from the dropper located above him.
Old Pirate Ship[]
At the same area of Level 2: "The Caves of Carnage", built by BdoubleO100,[8] there is a pirate ship to explore. One potential place to find an artifact is on top of the bed, located inside a prison cell in the ship's belly.
Unfortunately, any further content planned to the area was never actually created, due to it being scrapped in phase 8.
Frost Ember Shop[]
A player can access the Frost Ember Shop after a successful run, but only if they find their Artifact. If a player exits the dungeon without an artifact, the shop will be closed off, forcing them to take the "Coward's Exit."
In the shop, players can do the following things:
- Convert their Artifact into a number of Frost Embers to be spent at the shop
- Purchase cards and Victory Tomes with the Frost Embers they have collected.
- Opt to receive a commemorative "Artifake™" of the artifact they obtained (added during the first week of gameplay).
- Convert their Coins into Crowns to be spent at the Crown Shop at a rate of 4 to 1.
As with the Crown Shop, purchases are made by placing the correct number of Frost Embers in the shulker box below the desired item, and only one of each item can be purchased per run. Upon respawning in the dungeon's entrance, the items purchased will have been sent to the return chest along with the player's deck.
Frost Ember Shop Items | |
---|---|
Item | Cost (Frost Embers) |
4 random Uncommon or Rare cards[9] | Found in the Cards section |
1 Victory Tome | 10 |
3 Victory Tomes | 27 |
5 Victory Tomes | 40 |
The Forge[]
Found in the post-run Frost Ember Shop, The Forge would have been used to craft legendary cards. Once in the Forge, a player could input the correct items to craft the corresponding card. These items were not limited to cards, and could include items such as Glow Ink Sac.
Unfortunately, The Forge was never opened due to it being scrapped in phase 8.
Glorious Exit of Supreme Victory[]
Once the player has finished purchasing cards, they may exit through the door to the left of the Frost Ember Shop's entrance. Here, they can convert any Coins they obtained during a run into Crowns, which will follow them back to the dungeon's entrance. Entering through the door, the player is dropped into a room with a Ravager, which will kill them with the death message "Player was slain by nothing. They survived Decked Out!"
Secret Ultimate Victory Chamber[]
The Exit of Supreme Victory also contains a button and an iron door. If the player can dodge the Exit's Ravager, press the button, and enter the door, they will enter a small quartz room with a cake, a congratulatory message, and a chest of signs so they can leave their name in the room. Hermits who reach this room receive a trophy reading "I Survived the Death Room," which they can display in their personal chamber in the main hall.
The lectern reads:
Congratulations on defeating the Gauntlet! You may now enjoy a piece of Victory cake! Along with your Deck of Cards you will find a triumphant trophy in honor of your accomplishment! Please hang it in your Decked Out locker room with pride!
Please take a sign from the chest and inscribe your marking on the wall letting everyone that follows know you were here before them.
Now please exit to your left into the ultimate victory chamber!!
