Decked Out 2 is the Season 9 sequel to Hermitcraft Season 7's Decked Out, a competitive, deck-building, dungeon crawler game created in Minecraft by TangoTek as part of his main base. Various upgrades to Decked Out 2 from the Season 7 version include the use of Wardens, a new system called "Hazard", and the sheer size increase. It was a long term game between the hermits at the end of Season 9, and was played over several phases, each lasting one week.

Objective[]

The dungeon master player skin

The dungeon game master player skin

The objective of the game is to get as many points as possible in each phase, by collecting Victory Tomes that the hermits could potentially buy at the end of each successful dungeon run. Victory Tomes are bought using Frost Embers on the post-run Frost Ember Shop which can be accessed after each successful dungeon run. To obtain Frost Embers hermits are required to sacrifice their collected artifact from their dungeon runs. Other than Victory Tomes, Frost Embers are also able to buy new cards in the shop that can then be put in the player's deck to give hermits an advantage in the dungeon for future runs.

The game is divided into "phases" with each phase lasting for about a week. Each week the dungeon game master (TangoTek) will tally up the Victory Tomes of each hermit on that phase, to be awarded points based on their standings on the current phase. Each phase each hermit will get new Frozen Shards which are the keys to enter the dungeon. In the end, after a currently undetermined has been done, a hermit with the highest cumulative points is to be awarded the Decked Out 2 Champion.

Rules[]

  • Each card has a number at the top right corner, which represents the maximum number of duplicates a deck can have.
  • There may be up to 40 cards in the deck. It cannot contain any additional items.
  • Must enter armorless, and with an empty inventory.
  • No breaking blocks or entities. Imagine as if the game was played in adventure mode.
  • Named mobs are not allowed to be killed. However, mobs which spawn inside the dungeon (spiders, slimes, and vexes) may be killed.
  • There is no way to leave the run with artifacts or coins, and they must be relinquished or cashed out before exiting.
  • No using F5, Freecam, or any other mods/datapacks/etc that modifies the camera outside of first-person.
  • You may not consume large amounts of food to max out saturation before a run, such as using Honey Bottles and Suspicious Stews (with the Saturation effect from Dandelions). This does not apply to normal foods with high saturation, namely Cooked Porkchop, Steak, and Golden Carrots, granted you consume only one.

Recommended Settings[]

While playing the game, it is recommended (by TangoTek) to tweak the following settings (in Game Menu > Options...):

  • Music & Sound
    • Music: OFF
    • Jukebox/Note Blocks: 100%
    • Hostile Creatures: 50% or higher
  • Video Settings > Details
    • View Bobbing: OFF

How to Play[]

  1. Start by:
    • Prepare your deck. You can only have a maximum of 40 cards in your deck (Decked Out 2 cards within a shulker box). Each card has a limit to how many they can be in your deck as shown by the number on the top right.
    • Verify the dungeon is 'available', indicated by the light at the entrance.
    • Place a Frozen Shard into the barrel next to it on the ground.
    • Use the bed in the entrance room to set your spawn.
    • Put away everything in your inventory into the provided chests above the bed, with the exception of the shulker box containing your deck. You are not allowed to bring any other items into the dungeon including food.
    • In the second room past the iron door, choose the required difficulty (Easy, Medium, Hard, Deadly, Deepfrost) on the selection panel.
  2. Place the cards deck against the lamp, inside a shulker box (since the deck is shuffled, the order of the cards does not matter).
  3. Enter the dungeon:
    • Enter the minecart and press the button above the track to make your way into the dungeon.
    • You will receive a lodestone compass and a map.
    • Place the map in your off hand. It will indicate your current statistics through the dungeon.
    • The compass will be named according to the dungeon level and will point towards the location of the artifact in that level (selected randomly each run).
    • There are sweet berry bushes scattered around the dungeon while staying there. You may pick and consume the sweet berries as needed to satisfy your hunger.
    • The artifact can be revealed by dropping the compass on the spot where the compass is pointing to. Beware, as claiming your artifact will instantly generate 3 Clank.
    • Pick up the artifact.
  4. Exit the dungeon:
