Cub's Canyon is Cubfan135's Season 8 base. It is situated in a former plains biome in the north of the continent between Boatem Town and The Evil Empire.
The base is inspired by Bryce Canyon National Park. Base operations are built into caverns located off a central system of canyons lined with pointed dripstone. The Canyon is surrounded by the Enchanted Desert, a custom-landscaped desert biome featuring lava rivers, salt lakes and dead trees.
Places of interest[]
The Canyon's storage room
General base utilities[]
- Storage Cavern: The base's main storage room, located in the north-east of the Canyon. Lava dripstone around the cavern provides renewable lava for use in furnaces. The ceiling is covered in dripstone, cave vines, roots and spider webs.
- Nether Portal Cavern
- Smeltery Cavern
Travel and wayfinding[]
- Teleportation Cavern: The central interchange station for Cub's teleportation network. It allows instant travel to various enderpearl stasis chambers located around the base at the press of a button.
- Entrance Cavern: A welcome centre for visiting Hermits to find their way around the notoriously difficult-to-navigate Canyon. It contains horse stables, a large map of the area, navigational lodestones, a volume of JoeHills's Canyon Poems and a book of interesting statistics about the base.
- Coral Cavern: The main map room of the base. It is decorated with coral blocks and a central pond.
Shops[]
- The Cool Corner: A shop selling varieties of snow and ice. Customers are required to equip leather boots (provided at the shop entrance) to avoid freezing to death in the powder snow floor.
- Double Drip: A shop selling pointed dripstone and dripstone blocks.
- Slime Geode: A pay-what-you-want shop selling slime blocks.
Minigames[]

Trivia[]
- At least three Hermits have died in the Canyon after being impaled on pointed dripstone: Grian, GeminiTay and GoodTimesWithScar.
- After winning her IOU at the Horse Head Farms auction, Cubfan135 commissioned ZombieCleo to threaten JoeHills into writing a poem about the Canyon. In response, Joe produced three poems, inspired, respectively, by the writing styles of Hunter S. Thompson, Shel Silverstein and Philip Larkin.
- See JoeHills' Episode 13 for the writing process and ZombieCleo's Episode 9 for a cinematic reading of the poems.
- On the eastern side of the Canyon map is a landmass that resembles the profile of a demon child. Despite attempts to terraform it away, it cannot be unseen. Cub has grown to accept it as a part of the Canyon.
